Two major prizes for Kavac’s dissertation “The cooperation of grid operators in the electricity sector against the background of the digitalisation and decentralisation of energy systems”<\/h3>\n \n

We are pleased to announce that Dr Louise Sophia Kavacs’ outstanding dissertation “The cooperation of grid operators in the electricity sector against the background of the digitalisation and decentralisation of energy systems” has received two major awards.<\/p>\n

Dr Kavacs’ work deals with the active role of grid operators as managers of the electricity system, taking into account the development of a decentralised and digitalised energy system. The comprehensive study extends over 341 pages and methodically analyses the system of so-called regulated self-regulation. It analyses cooperation processes at European and national level, including the consideration of informal processes prior to legislation. The dissertation also presents ideas for improving the current regulation of congestion management and formulates these as a mandate to the legislator, which creates a link between fundamental scientific findings and practical implementation.<\/p>\n

Dr Louise Kavacs was awarded two prestigious prizes this year for her outstanding scientific achievements:<\/p>\n

Friedrich Schiller University Jena Doctoral Prize: doctoral graduates from the previous academic year were honoured at the annual ceremony on the Friedrich Schiller University’s traditional Schiller Day. Dr Louise Kavacs received the doctoral prize for her dissertation entitled “The cooperation of grid operators in the electricity sector against the background of the digitalisation and decentralisation of energy systems”. The thesis was written in November 2022 under the supervision of Professor Dr Matthias Knauff and was awarded the overall grade summa cum laude.<\/p>\n

Doctoral prize of the Juristische Studiengesellschaft Jena e.V.: Dr Kavacs was also awarded the prestigious doctoral prize of the Juristische Studiengesellschaft Jena e.V.. The award ceremony took place in the course of a lecture event by Mr RiBGH Gr\u00fcneberg at the ThOLG in Jena and honoured Dr Kavacs’ outstanding legal findings and research contributions.<\/p>\n
