Offa

Berichte und Mitteilungen zur Archäologie

About

Offa bears the name of a presumably legendary king of the Angles, whose kingdom lay in Schleswig-Holstein and who was praised for his valour and wisdom. The articles in the first volumes of Offa, published since 1936, tended to focus on regional archaeology, but have always covered a broad chronological spectrum from prehistory to the Middle Ages. However, archaeology is a supra-regional science, and over the years numerous archaeologists from Scandinavia, Western, Central and Eastern Europe have published their research results in Offa. Today, Offa is an internationally oriented, recognised specialist journal. All articles undergo a peer review process before publication. The articles are published in German or English, with a short summary in both languages.
