Our hybrid Open Access model
Open Access with a parallel print edition:
- The high-quality print edition offers an alternative way to access the content.
- The print edition is easy to archive and is required by many doctoral regulations. We also iffer the necessary deposit copies and an appropriate number of free copies of the print edition.
- The proceeds from the sale of the print edition help to reduce the need for subsidies.
- The works are usually published under the latest version of the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC-BY; currently CC-BY 4.0).
- Further information.
The funding required for a hybrid open access publication depends on various factors, such as its scope and subject area. In some cases, it also depends on the conditions of certain funding agencies. Surcharges may be necessary in the event of significantly increased typesetting costs, special features in the print edition, or similar circumstances. Therefore, the specific requirements can only be determined by calculating on a case-by-case basis.
For a work of approx. 200 pages with a paperback print edition, the typical subsidy requirement is EUR 5,500 (net). In addition, the current statutory sales tax of 19% may apply. This price includes typesetting costs and any required deposit copies, and a reasonable number of complimentary copies.
